Accessibility statement – VakaCloud app
This statement applies to the VakaCloud early childhood education app: the staff and parent views of app.vakacloud.fi, the login and two-step verification, the kiosk lock screen and the billing portal (portal.vakacloud.fi). We want the service to be usable by as many people as possible.
Compliance status
VakaCloud partially conforms to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements.
Known issues
- Keyboard focus is not clearly visible in all views (WCAG 2.4.7).
- The parent’s Messages view cannot be scrolled using the keyboard (2.1.1).
- In the form tool, form fields cannot be selected for editing using the keyboard, and forms and a child’s documents cannot be opened without a mouse (2.1.1).
- When a dialog is closed, keyboard focus does not always return to where the dialog was opened (2.4.3).
- The page language is not set to match the language of the user interface, and no language is set at all on the login and two-step verification pages (3.1.1).
- Some English text appears in the Finnish user interface (3.1.2).
- Some icon buttons lack a text alternative, and the state of all selections is not conveyed to screen readers (4.1.2).
- Not all fields in fillable forms have a name that screen readers can announce (4.1.2).
- Some checkboxes and filters in reports and billing lack a text alternative (1.3.1, 4.1.2).
- In some forms, fields are not associated with their labels (1.3.1, 3.3.2).
- The error message for the login verification code is not associated with the code field (3.3.1).
- In some views, heading levels, landmarks and list structures are incorrect (1.3.1).
- The statistics charts in billing have no text alternative (1.1.1).
- Error messages in the kiosk are not announced to screen readers (4.1.3).
- Some text and buttons do not meet the contrast requirement (1.4.3).
- Views do not have unique page titles (2.4.2).
- The parent’s Children view scrolls horizontally on narrow screens (1.4.10).
- Some buttons and links are small on touch screens (2.5.5, advisory).
- The accessibility of PDF files generated by the app has not yet been assessed.
We are fixing these issues as part of app updates.
How accessibility was assessed
This statement is based on a self-assessment by the service provider carried out on 17–18 October 2026.
Parts assessed:
- staff and administrator views: Home, Children, Forms and the form tool, Working hours, Smart reports, Messages, Users and Shifts
- parent views: Home, Messages, Care times and absences, and Children
- the kiosk lock screen
- login and two-step verification
- the billing portal (portal.vakacloud.fi): invoices and invoice details, statistics, billing settings, organisation details and the parent’s own invoices
Methods:
- automated testing against the WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA success criteria
- checks of keyboard use and visible focus
- review of the accessibility tree (names, roles and states of elements)
- 200% zoom, a screen width of 320 pixels and increased text spacing
- mobile device emulation with touch input in portrait and landscape orientation
- structural checks of PDF attachments uploaded by users
Testing with real screen readers (for example NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or TalkBack) has not yet been carried out. Reviewing the accessibility tree does not replace it.
Not yet assessed:
- signing in at the kiosk with Täppi and a PIN code
- PDF files generated by the app, such as forms and invoices
- previewing and submitting forms
- creating and sending invoices, and payment links
- error messages shown when saving
- session timeouts
- use on real mobile devices
